Build a growth mindset to help you thrive with Type 1 diabetes

View every challenge as an opportunity to learn, grow and be a total diabadass.

Do you want to master Type 1 diabetes? Are you determined to live a long, full and healthy life? If so, a strong mind will help you navigate the highs and lows of living with T1D. Building a growth mindset is the first step. I'll show you how!

If you're fed up and frustrated with the weight of living with or supporting someone with Type 1 diabetes, you've come to the right place.

After 20 years of living with Type 1 diabetes, I know exactly how you feel. I've been there too, riding the blood-glucose roller coaster and doing the best you can with the information you have. Yet every blood sugar result feels like a test of your success or failure. It reminds you - as every endocrinologist appointment does - of the impending health complications.

There are no 'days off' with Type 1 diabetes and it can feel extremely isolating and lonely. Despite your best efforts, T1D continues to knock you down and it's exhausting.

People living with or supporting someone with T1D are absolute warriors (we have no other choice), but the demands of Type 1 can be mentally draining.

It's not surprising you find yourself pissed off and, at times, unable to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

But there is good news.

It is possible to take control back and reduce the mental burden of diabetes.

The 'Build a growth mindset to help you thrive with Type 1 diabetes' course will show you how.

By the end of the course you'll know:

  • What a growth mindset is
  • The benefits of adopting a growth mindset
  • The many ways a growth mindset can specifically help you live with or support someone with Type 1 diabetes
  • How to create a growth mindset and take action!

It is 100% possible to thrive with Type 1 diabetes. It starts with mindset!

I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when I was 14 and for the past 24 years have refused to let it define me. I'm determined to live a long, full and healthy life.

However in 2015 my normal diabetes regime stopped working and for the first time, I faced the terrifying realization that Type 1 diabetes could prevent me from enjoying the little things we take for granted. Things like holding down a job, laughing with friends, getting old with my husband and watching our children grow, could be out of reach.

I began a quest to finally master diabetes. During this journey I realised it had taken well over 16 years to truly master this relentless disease. This is far too long! I had received so much information since my diagnosis, but why hadn’t it stuck?

We all learn in different ways however my experience of diabetes education has always been ‘one size fits all’. Therefore it’s not surprising information can often go in one ear, and out the other. It is vital that people understand how to live well with Type 1 diabetes as soon as possible, to truly master this disease and live long, full, healthy lives.

Calling on over 24 years living with Type 1, I am on a mission to help other people master T1D too. Utilizing my extensive experience in Learning & Development, Instructional Design, Implementation and Delivery to deliver engaging, relevant, diabetes information in a way that sticks. For people living with Type 1 diabetes, our lives depend on it.
